Every springtime, our Early Childhood Education sites take Easter very seriously.
They make sure that no eggs go un-dyed, no surprises un-found, and that the
Easter Bunny feels thoroughly welcomed when he arrives at site...
This past week was no exception, as our ECE students dished out a proper Easter
eggs-travaganza in the form of egg finding, egg dying, egg decorating, and egg
dropping.
After agreeing that the Easter Bunny's name is 'Sunny', the Pre-K students at our University
of Portland site helped to make a big sign (big enough so that Sunny could read it) in preparation
for his arrival. It must have succeeded in making him feel at home, because Sunny popped over
during nap time and hid eggs all throughout the toddler and Pre-K room! That sneaky bunny.

Smiles all around at this eggs-citing hunt |
Once the last egg had been found, it was time to dye more eggs and to decorate a special
Easter Bunny cake that staff had graciously baked (see pics at top!). It looked like everyone
was happy for such a sweet ending to an even sweeter day. And judging by a special gift
that was left for our VHFLC teachers, we think a certain someone agreed...
Meanwhile, over at our VA site, everyone was busily occupied with an egg drop that our
VHFLC team had been prepping over the course of a couple days. Kids invited their families
to make egg-protecting contraptions at home, and then tested them out once they got to
school. Of the 11 contraptions, only 2 resulted in broken eggs! Not bad at all...
Over at our St. Luke site, some of our youngest ones were experiencing the magic of Easter
egg dying. Mixing different colors always provides for great surprises and learning opportunities!
'Till next year... We're ready for you, Sunny!
