Leprechaun Mischief at ECE Sites!
Jude and Mia will definitely not be pinched today.
St. Patrick's Day is something of an enigma. Many of us are not entirely sure of the history behind this magical holiday, but through our childhoods have come to warmly associate it with wearing green (lest you be pinched!), shamrocks aplenty, celebrating the Irish culture, and having a little mischievous fun...
At our Early Childhood Education sites there was no shortage of mischief, as leprechauns used the University of Portland site bathrooms... creatively... and left flamboyant trails of leprechaun magic (glitter) in the outside play areas.
But not to worry! Our students at St. Luke had been busy devising a plan to halt these tricky little creatures in their tracks. By repurposing available household items and toys, children were able to make luxury leprechaun habitats that the devious critters would never be able to turn down. What a way to humanely stop a perpetrator!
Looks like this little guy took the bait! |
Staff members had a wonderful time celebrating St. Patrick's Day with their students, and even got in on some of the dress-up fun themselves. Here's hoping that the rest of the spring season follows suit and this is the first of much more green to come!
A happy St. Patrick's Day from UP staff Rebecca, Andrea, Cala, and Akari! |
