VHFLC Camp 2016 Photo Diary!

We made felt foxes during one of our maker sessions!

We've nearly completed our second week of VHFLC Camp at our Portland sites, and our first week of camp at our Beaverton site -- but we've already accomplished so much!

Campers have had a great time singing and playing games during 'indoor campfire' time, taking outings to the pool and park, going on field trips, and trying a wide array of maker activities (expert-led projects kids can choose from rotating themes: create, express, fortitude, and STEM). So take a peek at some of our snapshots to see the fun we've had while exploring our imaginations, making new friendships, and learning new things!

Our campers love beautifying the camp space and infusing their unique identities into the environment.

Leaves and twine make for some lovely fairy crowns!

Peek between the two fairies and you'll see a couple of pro sculptors, debating over what to create with their recycled materials...

Group time is great for talking about the day's plans and getting to know each other a little better!

For our 'Fortitude' maker activities, we have fun with role-playing and other character-building games.

During STEM maker activities, we sometimes like to learn what makes things tick by taking them apart and exploring their parts.

So that's what a phone is made out of!

Glittery fish, animal mouth bowls, and squiggly clay pots!

It seems a sting ray has found his way into this fish school...

Lauren at St. Cecilia transformed some extra clay into her family!

And Bao made his own action figurine.

Campers worked with scale and observation skills for STEM at Bridlemile

...And unlocked their inner musicians with musical buckets in 'Express'!

The group hard at work for a raucous jam session!

We hope you've enjoyed taking a glimpse into VHFLC Summer Camp! Be sure to check back in to see what our campers are up to in the coming weeks. We can't wait for more time in the sun and the pool, visiting the zoo, and so much more. 'Till next time!
