5 Fall Parent Nights, 2015

The Raleigh Hills Parent Night Team!

Fall Parent Nights are always a special time for costumes, creativity, and of course, some good-spirited pranks! But more than this, they are a great opportunity for students and teachers to band together with the common goal of connecting with VHFLC families, and to show them the skills and projects they've been hard at work on.

We scoped out 5 of our sites last week, and what we found was an even more toothsome array of tricks and treats than imagined! Take a peek at some pictures from the days.

Party at Atkinson

Gabriel (L) and Preston pose proudly with their jack-o-lantern bean bag boxes.

Before parents arrived at Atkinson's Halloween party, everyone split into teams in order to put up the decorations and test out the games they'd been diligently prepping for the day. Brothers Gabriel and Preston (above) skipped no beat on ensuring that their jack-o-lantern boxes were suitable for the bean bag toss, and as you can see from the images below, people found it important that the throwing lines for "young kids" "big kids" and parents be clearly delineated...

Following this, came the dazzling evolution of some simple crepe paper into a massive spider web trap for parents. The group did a great job of pooling efforts to put it up.

The web gets a trial run!

Oh no! Two white tigers are trapped!

Then was the assembly of the Halloween cookie table, where kids and parents could decorate cookies with special neon frosting that teachers Sam and Katia made. Below, Clementine is showing us her cookie masterpiece (eyes intentionally closed, she'll have you know, to demonstrate her excitement).

Once the day's curation and design process was complete, Sam and Katia had everyone gather together to reveal the winner of the 'guess the candy corn' game. Those who were not face-down in cookie plates sat in anticipation while sipping on "pumpkin juice" (orange-colored lemonade).

Over candy corn, popcorn, and oranges, Skyla (below) told us she couldn't wait to dress up as Wonder Woman for Halloween, and Diego and Caiden mentioned that they were going to go as Iron Man and a pirate.

Parents trickled in throughout the afternoon, admiring their children's decorations and trying their hand at the games. Much to the everyone's delight, some even got hopelessly trapped in the web! The evening closed with bellies full of snacks, and plates towering with spooky neon cookies.

Pumpkin Painting at West TV
For their Parent Night, West TV had a blast painting pumpkins and playing bingo with their parents. Check out this video to catch a glimpse of the action.

Party at Scholl's Heights
For Scholl's Heights' special day, kids arrived in costume and teachers Michelle and Solina orchestrated a scavenger hunt. Some children wore masks that they had made earlier for 'Halloween Week' (see Max and Nathan, aka Bat King and Frankenstein, below).

Also featured on this afternoon were Halloween-themed donuts and haunted houses made of cereal boxes. Do you think Isabella and Nevaeh enjoyed their treats??

Isabella and Nevaeh: "NOM"

The class put some very impressive effort into their outfits. Check out the costumed cuties below!

Caden (L), space warrior, and Nathan, Batman

Olivia, the bumblebee, and Kayla, the wicked witch!

Here are partners in crime again, Nevaeh and Isabella.

Their costumes weren't about to stop these kids from monkeying around.

Party at Bridlemile
For Bridlemile's Parent Night, kids worked hard to create their unique twist on festival games -- ring toss around the witches hat and pumpkin bowling, among others. Faces were also (very convincingly) painted and mini jack-o-lanterns (oranges) were carved. In addition to this, kids got a chance to get messy and make some cool art to show their parents.

This face painting station's the real deal.

All eyes on you!

Shaving cream art will never get old

Claire's got a creative vision for this.

Banks' Talent Show
There was no shortage of skills to be seen at Banks' Parent Night! Katie schooled us on jumping rope; Brayden, Bo, Bella, Taylor, and Alyssa brought in their beautiful artwork; Justin wowed us with wall ball; Kameron, Vicente, and Jacob demonstrated some NFL-status tricks with a football; Keiauna and Makayla were gymnast queens, Bo hula hooped, and Bella entranced us the on piano. Then of course... there were some unforgettable Nae Naes. Check the link for some unparalleled swag...

To all the parents who came out to our sites, thanks! We had a great time and hope you did too :D.
