St. Luke Preschool – Pumpkin Pie Social!

This week, to foster some quality time between children and families (and to get us all into the Thanksgiving spirit –– isn't it hard to believe it's less than a week away?), the VHFLC program at St. Luke put on the first of our preschool's famed pumpkin pie socials.
As children trickled out and families took their seats, all took note of director Adina Walls-Arnaout's lovely spread of pie, coffee, and other goodies. Adina began by giving a warm welcome to families and a special thanks to VHFLC and St. Luke staff who helped contribute to the event. One could see gears visibly turning in tiny heads as the pies were sliced and prepared to be served. Elizabeth, who was quick to spy a piece coming her way, announced, "We're going to eat a LOT of pie!" She had barely gotten the words out when her friend, Teagan, corrected her –– "We're going to be eating ALL the pie!"
And
so the excitatory and competitive pie-eating mood of the day was set!
No one wasted a moment before tucking in, and eyes grew wide as dollops
of whipped cream completed the sweet picture.

Michelle, mother of former VHFLC students Robert and Sophie, and current student Nico, mentioned that this was their family's seventh (and last!) VHFLC pie social. They were happy to get one more chance in to experience it, and that Grandma Judy –– who was visiting from New Jersey –– could even get a taste before heading back.
After
plates were sparkly clean and had been cleared away, all agreed that
the time had come to get some energy released. Each child had his/her
own unique way of expressing the pie-fueled joy, and soon kids were
replaced by ninjas and superheroes –– adorned in capes, hats, glasses and
other unique get-ups, running in circles and doing air kicks to their
hearts' content.
It was hard to peg any of these guys down for a pic! |
Finally nabbed lil Ava for a glamor shot... |
