Upcoming School Age Winter Break Information 2018

The holidays are right around the corner and that means time together with families, the community, and time away from school.   There are a lot of breaks coming up in the next few weeks and month, so to help out with some options we are listing the places and locations VHFLC will be holding care for the breaks.

Next week, the days before Thanksgiving are off for many schools and locations due to conferences and school closure dates.   We have two options for care during this time.   Portland Village, located at 7654 N Delaware Ave, Portland, OR 97217, will be holding care the 19th and 20th from 7am- to 6pm.  They will be closed on the 21st, due to the school not being open.  If you would like to attend these down days, please contact Jessica at (503) 452-8633.   St. Andrew’s will also be offering care next week.  They will be holding care the 19-21st from 7am- 6pm, and their address is 3228 SW Sunset Blvd, Portland, OR 97239.  If you would like to attend these down days please contact Jane at (503) 246-3274.

Our down day care is provided by our certified teachers and has planned crafts, games, and activities.  They are given a morning and afternoon snack, please have your child bring a sack lunch.  Both locations have use of the outside play structures.   St. Andrews also has the use of the inside gym should the weather be less than desirable.  It is a great time for students to meet new friends and work on more complex projects due to the extended time.

Coming up next would be Winter Break.  Due to the fact that we have so many schools in different school districts and across the region we will be holding 3 camps to try and accommodate as many families as possible.   The camps are located at St. Andrews, St. Cecilia, and Butternut Creek.  All camps will be closed Dec. 24th-25th and Dec. 31st -Jan 1st.

The St. Andrews camp is located at 3228 SW Sunset Blvd, Portland, OR 97239 just 4 miles from downtown Portland.  The camp dates coincide with the Portland Public School calendar.  They are December 17- 21st and 26th-28th.  Opening at 7am, camp will run until 6pm.  There will be 2 organic snacks served, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Campers will need to bring a lunch daily.  This will be hosted out of their two dedicated rooms, with use of the outside play area and gym.  There is limited space at this location due to class size, so register early to secure your spot.
The St. Cecilia camp is located at 12250 SW 5th St, Beaverton, OR 97005 in the heart of Beaverton.  They will be following the Beaverton Public School calendar.  They will be open Dec. 19th- 21st and Dec. 26th-28th.   Opening time will also be at 7am and pick up by 6pm.  Two organic snacks will be served throughout the day and campers will need to bring a daily lunch.  They will have use of the outside play structure and cafeteria, along with their normal meeting location.

The Butternut Creek camp is located at 20395 SW Florence St, Aloha, OR 97078 at the boarder of Aloha and Hillsboro.  They will be following the Hillsboro Public School calendar for break.  Their times are slightly different, being open Dec. 26th-28th and Jan. 2nd-4th.   The camp opens at 7am and goes until 6pm daily.  Organic snack is served in the morning and afternoon, and campers will need to bring their own lunch.  They will be in their normal meeting area, the cafeteria, with use of the outside play area and gym.

All these camps are now online for registration.  Follow the link and click on the camp you would like to register for at https://vhflc.org/winter-main/.  You can select which days you need care and only pay for those dates.  Space is limited at certain locations so signing up early means your spot is secure and you won’t be stuck worrying about where to find care.

Each camp will be run by our wonderful staff from the sites in the area.  There will be multiple daily crafts, games and other activities for your camper to participate in.  They will also have the opportunity to make new friends and see old.
We hope you choose to join us during these breaks and will be showing you pictures and projects from these locations in the upcoming weeks.
